The main reinforced concrete island of the giant Ice Arena in Yekaterinburg is flooded.
Fasteners of the BERVEL plant were delivered to the construction site and the builders are starting to erect the metal frame of the building, which will be supported by trusses with a span of almost 100 meters. According to the project, the outside of the arena will have a mesh metal frame (form-forming external fence) of a copper shade in accordance with the corporate identity of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company. The roof will be decorated with a large UMMC logo, and a media screen will be installed on the central facade.
The total area of the palace will be almost 100 thousand square meters, the height of the interior space will reach 27 meters. The elliptical building will occupy an area of 5 hectares.
As part of the project for the development of the territory near the Ice Arena, three architectural monuments will be restored on Dekabristov Street. Inside, offices of sports clubs and a museum may appear.
One of the features of the arena is its versatility. There is no stadium in Russia that could host up to 12 sports of any level up to the World Cup. The transformation of the arena from one sport to another or the arrangement of a concert venue will take from 6 to 18 hours.
The arena is tentatively scheduled to launch in December 2023.
