The builders have started the assembly of the upper part of channel pillars at the Kerch Strait Bridge, reports the information portal “The Bridge to Crimea”.
Channel pillars are the largest pillars of the bridge. Each pillar consists of pile foundation with collars.Connected channel pillars for the highway and railway (№ 252 and 253) are constructed on both sides of the Kerch-Yenikalskiy Channel. Arch spans of the bridge will be constructed above the water by means of channel pillars. Collars are assembled on support pillars of the railway part of channel pillars. Each collar is 25 meters long and weighs 270 tons.
The Kerch Strait Bridge that will connect Kerch Peninsula of Crimea and Krasnodar Krai will be the longest bridge in Russia. Its length is 19 kilometers.
