The Zvezda shipbuilding complex is a strategically important project for the Far Eastern region and the domestic shipbuilding industry, which is being implemented on behalf of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation by a consortium of Rosneftegaz, Rosneft and Gazprombank. The construction of the complex began in 2009. The ceremonial launch of production of the new shipyard took place on September 1, 2016 in the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
In mid-July, the groundbreaking ceremony for the lead vessel of the series of icebreaking LNG carriers of the ARC 7 class took place at the Zvezda shipyard.
Such gas carriers are one of the most technologically challenging in the construction of innovative vessels, each of which will have a capacity of more than 172 thousand cubic meters and is equipped with three unique propeller-driven rudders. These vessels are designed to carry liquefied natural gas and are capable of operating in arctic conditions.
The construction of ARC 7 class icebreaking LNG carriers is carried out in the interests of the Arctic LNG-2 liquefied natural gas production project, in which Novatek is the main sponsor and charterer of the cargo.
LLC ZVK “BERVEL” is a supplier of high-strength fasteners both for the shipbuilding complex itself and for the large-scale construction of “Arctic LNG-2”.
